Optimizing the production of industrial heating and cooling components requires a material handling system that balances speed with precision. For GEA Searle, located in Fareham, United Kingdom, CALDAN designed and installed an inverted monorail overhead conveyor to streamline the surface treatment of metal parts for heat exchangers. This project highlights our ability to provide high-capacity Caldan UK conveyor solutions tailored to the specific needs of the HVAC and climate technology sectors.
The GEA Searle facility handles a wide range of metal components, some reaching up to 4,000 mm in length. The system needed to address several key operational requirements:
1. Stability and cleanliness: As an inverted monorail system, the track is located beneath the product. This prevents oil or debris from the chain falling onto the parts, which is critical during high-quality coating processes.
2. Continuous flow: The manufacturing process required a system that could operate in a continuous running mode to maintain a steady throughput of heat exchanger parts.
3. Versatile load handling: The conveyor had to support diverse product dimensions and weights up to 100 kg, utilizing specialized “C” hooks and saw tooth beams for secure transport.
To meet these requirements, CALDAN implemented a Single Line Inverted Monorail Conveyor UK system. This technology provides a compact and clean overhead solution.

– Cardan chain reliability: By using high-performance cardan chain technology, the system maintains a variable speed between 0.5 and 2.5 meters per minute, allowing GEA to adjust production rates based on the specific product batch.
– Manual load/unload integration: Designed for efficiency, the loading and unloading areas operate in continuous mode, allowing operators to safely manage parts without stopping the entire line.
